Today's DWI Headlines

Did You Know?
  • DUI lawyer or attorney - a lawyer specializing in DWI and/or DUI law.
  • Attorney at Law - indicates a person who is trained and legally licensed to represent a client in legal matters (both in and out of court) and give legal advice.
  • Alcohol symptoms - in large doses, alcohol or ethanol acts as a central nervous system depressant and causes drunkenness, generally at a blood ethanol content of about 0.1%. At higher contents, alcohol causes intoxication, coma and death.
  • Legal drinking age - the minimum age one must be to drink alcohol. In most countries this is 16 or 18, but there are notable exceptions such as China, which has no minimum drinking age and the United States, where the minimum drinking age is 21.
  • Breathalyzer Myths - a common myth is that breath testers can be fooled (to make one's blood alcohol content appear lower) by using certain substances. An episode of the Discovery Channel's MythBusters tested substances usually recommended in this practice -- such as breath mints, mouthwash, and onion -- and found them to be ineffective. Adding an odor to mask the smell of alcohol might fool a person, but does not change the actual alcohol concentration in the body or on the breath.
