Today's DWI Headlines

Did You Know?
  • U.S. Legal limit - All states have an illegal limit of 0.08%. Some states also include a lesser charge, driving while impaired, at a BAC of around 0.05%. Also, in all states, drivers under the drinking age of 21 have committed a drunk driving offense if they have any alcohol in their blood (set at .00%, .01% or .02% to be meaningful).
  • Alcohol - a potent drug with a range of side effects. The amount and circumstances of consumption play a large part in determining the extent of intoxication, e.g. consuming alcohol after a heavy meal is less likely to produce visible signs of intoxication than consumption on an empty stomach. Hydration also plays a role, especially in determining the extent of hangovers.
  • Drunk driving or drinking and driving - the act of operating a motor vehicle after having consumed alcohol (ethanol) or other drugs, to the degree that mental and motor skills are impaired. It is illegal in most jurisdictions within the U.S.
  • SADD - Students Against Driving Drunk.
  • Damage Waiver - car hire insurance that is often offered and you should consider it. Third Party Insurance is nearly always included in the quote but you will not be covered for yourself or the vehicle. Check the terms carefully.
