  • Driving while consuming alcohol (not after consuming) - often defined as illegal, irrespective of whether or not the driver is impaired. In some jurisdictions it is also illegal for an open container of an alcoholic beverage to be in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle or in some specific area of that compartment.
  • Collision insurance coverage (Coll) - insures against the cost of repairing the vehicle following an accident or the cost of purchasing a new vehicle if it is damaged in an accident beyond economic repair.
  • Auto accident, road accident, car accident and motor vehicle accident - see traffic accident.
  • Ethanol, also known as ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol - a flammable, colorless chemical compound, one of the alcohols that is most often found in alcoholic beverages. It is often referred to simply as alcohol. Its chemical formula is C2H5OH, also written as C2H6O.
  • Car insurance - insurance that may cover both legal liability claims against the driver and loss of or damage to the vehicle itself.
